Walt Disney Walt Disney was an American motion picture and television producer and showman, famous as a pioneer of cartoon films, including Mickey Mouse, and as the creator of the amusement parks Disneyland and Disney World. Early life (1901-1920) ⋯ Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901, Chicago. He was the fourth son of Elias Disney and Flora Disney. When Disney was a 4 years old child, he and his family moved to a farm in Marcellien, Missouri. There, Disney developed his interest in drawing when he was paid yo draw the horse of a retired neighborhood doctor. In 1917, he enrolled at McKinley High School and became the cartoonist of the school newspaper.
